Description
Description
High quality outdoor antenna for better range
This is a high quality outdoor antenna designed to be deployed outdoors, for better range. The antenna connector becomes one with the antenna body, as this design further increases the resistance of the antenna to external conditions. It is IP67 rated, making it weather resistant. It is designed to operate in sub-GHz bands like EU868.
Deployment on the urban periphery
The coverage provided by this antenna makes it ideal for outdoor deployment in a high altitude location on the outskirts of an urban area or small village, where there are very few other buildings and of people in general. In such a scenario, it is likely that the signal will be able to cover a longer distance until it reaches the intended recipient of the transmission. If you need the transmission signal to reach the opposite side of the urban area or other villages or towns close enough, it is likely that this antenna will provide you with the necessary coverage.
Coverage for remote devices
As it is a higher range dBi antenna, it is designed to provide better, fuller and more stable coverage for devices located far away from it, as opposed to a lower dBi antenna, which could do the same for devices that are located near its location. The general logic related to the difference between a higher dBi antenna and a lower dBi antenna is best understood by looking at the image below.
The exact shape of the antenna coverage generally resembles that of a donut, while the exact radiation pattern of the currently discussed 8dBi antenna can be viewed in the image below.
Use cases
Overall, the specifications of this particular antenna are very suitable for use with a helium access point, such as the RAK V2 access point or the MNTD access point, mainly because you will be able to reach a large number of witnesses in remote areas, such as villages or towns, especially if you manage to install it high up and near the top of a building, where it would have a direct line of sight to buildings that are very barely visible at far.
