As a developer, technician, IT manager or IT enthusiast, have you always wanted to have your own virtualization server while having a small budget? It's possible with Proxmox. This solution is free and open-source. And it is entirely possible to deploy a virtualization server on a machine offered by Sparwan.
What is Proxmox?
Proxmox allows you to automate the management of virtual machines (VMs) and have a graphical user interface with a content management system. It also easily manages disks, network connections, etc.
To install Proxmox, simply follow the procedure described in the documentation available on the website https://www.proxmox.com .
Use Sparwan calculators as a VM server
To deploy Proxmox on a Sparwan machine, we will use the procedure described in the documentation available on the website https://www.proxmox.com/fr/downloads/download.html.
Let's take as an example the most modest machine in our range in terms of CPU, that is to say the SPW-1021N . It is possible to deploy several virtualization servers on this machine.
Indeed, for our R&D lab and our test benches, we needed several Ubuntu and Debian servers.
Here are the virtual machines deployed:
1 Ubuntu 20.04 with a dual core CPU, 1 GB of ram
1 Ubuntu 16.04 with a dual core CPU, 1 GB of ram
1 Debian 11 with a dual core CPU, 1 GB of ram
1 Windows 10 with a quad core CPU, 4 GB of ram
This machine has it in its belly!
Suffice to say that with the SPW-BOXPC or even the SPW-3046 there is plenty to do in terms of power.
