Presentation
A fanless PC is a computer that does not have a fan to cool its processor and components. Instead, it uses aluminum or copper heat sinks to dissipate the heat generated by the electronic components. Heat sinks are designed to be as efficient as possible at dissipating heat. They rely on the conductivity of the metals used, and allow the PC to be completely silent and not generate any noise.
Fanless PC boost reliability and reduce noise
Fanless PCs are very reliable because they don't have any moving parts that wear out or break (fans, mechanical hard drives), reducing maintenance costs and downtime. They can also be used in industrial environments, such as factories and mines, where dust and particles can cause problems for traditional computers with fans.
They are also more energy efficient, in fact, they use ranges of mobile processors which heat up less and which do not need to consume energy to power the fans.
And the noise in all this?
Fanless PCs are often used in environments where noise is a significant factor, such as control rooms, conference rooms, science labs, hospitals, and libraries.
The benefits of using a fanless PC
Silent : without fan, there is no rotation noise.
Dust resistant: The absence of a fan prevents dust from entering the computer.
More reliable: Fans are a common cause of computer failure, removing them can prevent this type of problem.
Less energy consuming: The absence of a fan, coupled with low-power CPUs, helps reduce the computer's energy consumption.
More compact: The absence of a fan allows for a more compact PC design.
For which applications?
Increasingly in demand in office applications
Fanless computers are becoming increasingly popular in office applications due to their quietness and reliability. These computers do not have a fan, which means they operate silently (0db) and without vibration. This makes them ideal for quiet work environments, such as open-plan offices, meeting rooms and libraries.
In addition to being quiet, fanless computers are also very reliable. They have fewer moving parts that can wear out or break, which means they have a longer lifespan and require less maintenance. This reliability makes them ideal for applications where uptime is crucial, such as desktop workstations or servers.
Fanless computers are also energy efficient, making them ideal for controlling your energy bill and saving on electricity costs in the long term.
Already widely used in industry
Fanless computers are widely used in industrial applications due to their reliability and resistance to harsh environmental conditions. These computers are less sensitive to dust and dirt, and are therefore ideally suited for industrial environments.
In addition to their resistance to harsh environmental conditions, Fanless computers are also highly reliable and have a longer lifespan and require less maintenance. This reliability makes them ideal for industrial applications where availability is crucial, such as process control systems, production monitoring systems, command and control systems, robotics systems, digital signage.
