Description
This article will show you how to connect Milesight Gateway to the Internet.
Requirement
Milesight LoRaWAN UG6x or UG8x gateway.
Configuration
Connect via Ethernet
1. Go to Network -> Interface -> Port to configure WAN settings and click Save and Apply.
Connection type: Static IP, DHCP client, PPPoE.
DNS Server: Resolve or translate the domain name to the public IP addresses needed for your device to actually communicate with this site.
- Static IP
IP Address: Set it according to the subnet of your network device. For example, if the IP address of the LAN port of your network router is 192.168.22.1, the IP address of the UG6x/UG8x Ethernet port should be 192.168.22.x.
Gateway: IP address of the upper router/switch.
- DHCP client
If the DHCP server is enabled on the upper router, you can configure the gateway as a DHCP client . The gateway IP address can be found in the router's DHCP list.
- PPPoE
Type the dialer account username and password.
2. Connect the gateway's Ethernet port to the router/switch and use the WAN IP address to access the gateway's web GUI.
3. Go to Maintenance -> Tools -> Ping to check the network connection.
Connect via cellular
1. Insert the SIM card into the SIM slot correctly.
Note: Make sure the SIM card is charged and can be used on other network devices like a cell phone.
2. Go to Network->Interface->Cellular to enable and configure cellular settings.
- Type the APN and other information on the SIM card.
- Type the correct ICMP server.
- Enable roaming if your SIM card is a roaming card.
- Click Save and Apply.
3. Go to Status->Cellular to check the cellular connection status.
4. Go to Maintenance -> Tools -> Pin g to check the network connection.
Connect via Wi-Fi
1. Go to Network -> Interface -> WLAN to select Client mode and click Search to search for Wi-Fi hotspots.
Note : If you are using Wi-Fi to access the gateway web GUI, please do not change the mode to Client.
2. Select a valid hotspot and click Join Network .
3. Type the password of the Wi-Fi hotspot if it is encrypted.
Click the Save and Apply button .
4. Go to Status -> WLA N to check WIFI connection.
5. Go to Maintenance -> Tools -> Pin g to check the network connection.
